Re-Naissance, Red AOP Faugères

Mourvèdre is a Spanish varietal that was brought to France during the 16th century. It thrives in a mild climate with moderate sunshine levels. It ripens fairly inconsistently and yields must be low in order for the roots to retain their strength. This delicate varietal is rarely the dominant variety in a blend. However, it produces wines with excellent complexity and a rich aromatic profile. 1st Vintage: 2010. The year in which my son Liam was born. The Mourvèdre parcels receive the utmost care and attention. They are worked exclusively by hand using artisanal and natural methods. This wine is produced in very small quantities and only in the years during which the somewhat capricious Mourvèdre achieves the exceptional quality we seek. Excellent cellar-ageing potential.

80% Mourvèdre - 20% Grenache

The wines are certified organic from the vintage 2017.

The parcels are grassed and mowed mid-season

Attractive, deep colour with garnet and tawny tints. The nose is intensely aromatic and discloses notes of liqueur, coffee and red berries combined with notes of spice, Sichuan peppercorn, Madagascar vanilla and Ceylan cinnamon bark. The palate is rich, round and full-bodied with excellent length and combines strength and elegance. It works perfectly with a roast woodcock or deer stew.
